Cooking time:

Yields:
2 people
Ingredients:
  • 2 heaping handfuls organic spinach (or Power Greens/ Beet Greens)
  • 2 organic kale leaves – tear from stems
  • 1 organic Granny Smith apple cored and sliced
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup Almond Milk (prefer unsweetened vanilla)
  • 1 cup Coconut Water
  • 1 t Maca Powder
  • *1-2 t Spirulina Powder
  • **2 T raw Hemp Seeds
  • ice cubes
Directions:

Add Almond Milk and Coconut Water to Blender.

Put spinach and kale in blender.

Add Apple, Maca, Spirulina and Hemp Seeds.

Blend on Smoothie Setting.

Add frozen banana cut into pieces and ice.

Blend again for 2 more cycles.

Pour half in a tall glass and enjoy.

Pour other half in Mason Jar and seal tight to have next day.

Notes:

I keep frozen bananas in my freezer for smoothies. When my bananas start to speckle I peel them and place in ziplock bags, squeezing out the air and place in freezer. They stay yellow and are perfect to use later.

Maca is a great Super Food supposed to add energy properties to foods.

*Spirulina is a Super Food from the algae family with tons of beneficial minerals. It has a strong smell but doesn’t negatively affect the smoothie. Perhaps start with just 1 t (or even leave it out and add as you become more accustomed to Green Smoothies)

**I use Hemp Seeds as an additional source of protein instead of protein powders. This is not necessary to add but 2 T will add approximately 10 grams of protein to your smoothie.
