This spiced Smoothie Bowl was truly a treat. I needed a distraction the day I made it and wanted to use my new Coconut Bowl so I decided to get creative.
Even though a Smoothie Bowl is frozen, because of the cinnamon and other warming spices it still acts like a thermogenic, aiding the body by speeding up the metabolism.
Serves 1
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup Carrot Spice Cake Juice*
- 1 T Chia Seeds
- 1/2 t Vanilla
- 1 t Cinnamon (I like to use a lot)
- 1/2 frozen Banana
- 4 Dates, chopped & pitted
- Handful of Ice Cubes
Topping:
- 1T unsweetened
- Coconut Flakes
- 4-5 chopped raw Walnuts
- Cinnamon (sprinkled on top)
- Bee Pollen (sprinkled on top)
Directions:
Add first 7 ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth and thick. Put in a bowl and add the toppings
Serve Immediately
Notes:
*For this recipe, I started by making my Carrot Spice Cake Juice as the liquid base. I didn’t add the chia seeds or cinnamon to the juice though because I used it in the smoothie bowl instead. The recipe for the juice can be found at http://bit.ly/2EdpBzd.
If you don’t have or don’t want to use the fresh juice you can use dairy-free nut milk as the base but I would then add 1 t of Pumpkin Pie Spice to the blender.
A Smoothie Bowl is thicker than a Smoothie but can be made into a smoothie using the same ingredients, but adding more liquid. (In this case, I would probably do 4oz of the carrot juice and 4 oz water or coconut water for a 1 serving smoothie).
